ENTER...IF YOU DARE
Enter, if you dare...
Haunted Prison NRV is the newest and most thrilling haunted attraction experience in the New River Valley. Every weekend until November 2, this abandoned prison in Fairlawn VA brings the eerie echoes of its dark past to life. As you navigate the haunted cell blocks, the Corrupted still reigns, you’ll face a challenge like no other as you try to make it out unscathed.
Can I use my cell or a flashlight?
Nope! No flashlights or cell phone lights. No photos or videos inside the prison. There’s plenty of fun with the prisoners in the YARD before you enter, so feel free to take all the photos and videos before you enter. Once you go into the darkness, better keep your phone in your pocket. If you lose your phone (or glasses, or keys, or anything else) we cannot look for them until after sunrise. The prison is on lockdown until the sun comes up.
Is there an age restriction?
Parents know their children best and make the final determination, but we recommend no one under 13 go through. Anyone under 13 definitely has to be accompanied by a parent. Carrying children through is not allowed (trust us, it’s not a good idea). No one under 7 is allowed.
What should I bring and what should I leave at home?
Wear closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothes. Bring your cell phone for fun pics and videos in the YARD, but not inside the prison. No backpacks or large purses in the prison—they will be searched before entering. No Halloween costumes or masks.
Can I get a refund if I don't make it through?
No way! That means we did our job TOO WELL! Besides, all proceeds from Haunted Prison NRV benefit the programs of New River Community Action – Head Start, and Housing and Homelessness prevention, food pantries, and all kinds of awesomeness in our community! #WeScareBecauseWeCare
Where is it located? How do I get there? How much does it cost to park?
Haunted Prison NRV is at the old “Camp 1” at 6698 Old Route 11, Fairlawn VA 24141. Parking is FREE but it is in a field, so wear closed toe shoes (which is a smart idea anyway when you are going to PRISON).
Do I have to pay to get in if I am just waiting but not going through the prison?
Yep! It’s $5/person to hang out in the YARD to see what’s happening with the hooch in the beer garden and enjoy the food trucks. You must sign the waiver and get your wristband to be onsite.
How long is the line/wait?
We sell tickets in time slots (every half hour). Online tickets allow you to choose your time slot. We try to keep wait times reasonable (less than an hour), but if you don’t want to wait, you can always spend a little more and go for the R.I.P Fastpass and skip the line.
Is there food and drink onsite?
Food trucks and a beer garden! You must pay $5 (and sign the waiver) to get a wristband to enter
Is it scary? Will they touch me?
I mean, it *IS* a prison filled with zombies..? They don’t intentionally touch you, but it is a “5 senses” experiences—sight, sound, smell, the works! Other inanimate (or undead?) things may give you that feeling that something might be about to grab you. We don’t have to touch you to scare you or claim your soul. We can help you leave early if you just can’t take it (let one of the prisoners know). You can also purchase a “Chicken necklace” if you want to experience the prison but not get so much attention from its occupants.
How much are tickets? Where can I buy them? Do you offer discounts?
Tickets are $25/person and available online, which is the only way that makes sure you get in before we SELL OUT. You can get a $5 discount if you are military, first responder, or a teacher (ID required upon entry). Groups of 10 or more get 10% off when you buy online.
Can I come if I am pregnant (or have a health condition)?
NOPE. We highly discourage and do not recommend anyone with heart problems, seizure disorders, pregnant, or any other medical condition to visit the haunt. Of course we are not doctors, so make sure you talk to yours before you even think about it.
Is it wheelchair accessible?
It’s a little bit rough terrain outside, but the inside of the prison IS wheelchair accessible!
Do I have to sign a waiver?
Yes! If you purchase your ticket online, you can sign it electronically (please forward it to everyone in your party so they can sign too). If you buy tickets onsite, there are paper waivers available.
What if it rains?
Haunted Prison NRV is open rain or shine. If we close for any reason, it will be on our website, on social media, and online ticket purchases will receive an email.
Are weapons allowed?
Before entering the prison, you will go through a metal detector and get wanded by the guards. No metal, no weapons. It’s a prison.
